Take a Right Turn
As a Green Certified Business, we are always on the look-out for great examples of how a small change can make a positive impact on our environment. Sometimes it’s as easy as turning right instead of left, as delivery giant UPS has demonstrated. Last year it redesigned its routes so that drivers would make a minimum number of left-hand turns, which burn more fuel while the engine idles. As a result, the company shaved 30 million miles off its deliveries in 2007, thus saving 3 million gallons of gas and reducing UPS truck emissions by 32,000 metric tons (equivalent to the emissions of 5,300 passenger cars). Way to go, Big Brown!
