Lauren has been involved in the non-profit sector for the past 10 years, having served on several local Napa County boards including Chairman of Copia: the American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts; Chairman of the Napa Valley Community Foundation; Justin-Siena High School; Blue Oak School; and the Arts Council Advisory Board. She also served as a Trustee on North Bay Bancorp’s board. Currently, Ms. Ackerman serves on the Institute of International Education (IIE.org) Advisory Board in San Francisco, an organization funded by the State Department and the United Nations that manages the Fulbright Scholar program among 200 other international educational programs.

Prior to her local non-profit involvement, Lauren was involved with the information technology industry, with her company, Wavelength Marketing. The company worked with more than 75 computer technology firms, such as Sun Micro and Hewlett Packard, in developing and managing both national and international market channels for technology products. In 1990 Lauren started her own management-consulting firm, working with companies such as Motorola, Philips Electronics and National Semiconductor.

Lauren has her BA Degree in Public Relations from USC and an MBA in Strategic Marketing from Pepperdine University. She also completed the Rockefeller Foundation’s strategic philanthropy program, the Philanthropy workshop (TPW) in 2003, with emphasis on global philanthropy in New York, Washington D.C., and South Africa. As a result of her philanthropy work, Ms. Ackerman has started working on a book titled, Lipstick Philanthropy: How Women are Changing the Face of Giving in Their Communities.
